The Gay Bomb
In 1994, the Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, sought $7.5 million Pentagon funding for research into a non-lethal chemical weapon comprised of female sex pheromones. Scientists at the lab postulated that dropping the pheromones on enemy troops would cause them to become irrestibly sexually attracted to one another.
Wright Laboratory was not granted the funding, but it did receive a consolation award, the 2007 Ig Nobel Peace Prize.
