When a Fish Grows a Big Brain

From our perspective, guppies lead simple lives—eating, reproducing, and, after a couple of years, dying. Apply a little evolutionary pressure, though, and they can evolve larger brains that make them better at cognitive tasks. Nifty, but there’s a downside: brainy guppies produce dramatically fewer babies than their little-brained counterparts.
