New Ocean Floor Formation Model Sparks Debate

This week’s edition of the British journal Nature contains a paper that is sparking fiery debate among the world’s leading geochemists.

The paper’s authors propose a new model that could knock the foundations out from under long-held views on the composition and characteristics of Earth’s mantle, the layer beneath our planet’s crust.
